Banana, Peanut butter and Date Smoothie

One of Erin’s favorite smoothies is the Lobo from a place called Buddha Full.  It’s a decadent and delicious banana and peanut butter concoction with dates and a few other nutritionally packed ingredients.  We thought we would try replicating this addictive smoothie, and this is what we came up with.  Not quite as intense as the original Lobo, but it wouldn’t be that hard to up this recipe to match the Lobo.  It would just take another frozen banana and a bit more peanut butter.  However, if you are trying to create a wonderful breakfast or snack that won’t load you with calories, we think you will find this satisfying.


1.5 to 2 Cups no sugar added vanilla flavored almond or soy milk

1 frozen banana (Buy a bunch, wait for them to get brown spots, peal them and throw them into the freezer)

1 or 2 dates (Dates might need to have the pits removed and then soaked in water for about 20 minutes beforehand so that they blend up well.  Small dates are probably good to go without the soaking.)

1 scoop of vanilla flavored Whey or Hemp protein powder or another kind that is neutral in flavor

1 to 2 tsp of peanut butter

1 tsp of chia seeds

1 tablespoon of ground flax seeds (optional)

3 or 4 ice cubes

Blend this mixture up and enjoy!
